We just spent an amazing long weekend exploring the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek wine regions, and it was everything we hoped for—beautiful scenery, incredible wines, and even a stay on a zebra preserve! We started in Stellenbosch, which is as picturesque as it gets, with rolling vineyards and mountains in the distance. We tried so many different wines over the weekend, and every winery had something unique to offer. From bold reds to crisp whites, we definitely got our fill! The tastings were a lot of fun, and the staff at each place were super knowledgeable and happy to share the stories behind their wines. Franschhoek was equally charming, with its quaint village feel and more stunning views. It’s known as the “French Corner” of South Africa, and the wineries here had a bit of an old-world European vibe. We took our time hopping from one winery to the next, sipping wines, and soaking in the laid-back atmosphere. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think we agreed that the rosés we tried were some of the best we’ve ever had. One of the coolest parts of the trip was where we stayed—a lodge on a zebra preserve! Waking up to zebras grazing outside our window was such a surreal experience. It was the perfect mix of wine-country relaxation and a little touch of safari adventure. If you’re planning a trip to South Africa, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek are must-visit wine regions. We loved the mix of great wine, beautiful landscapes, and that unexpected zebra sighting!
