The Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Driving around the Snæfellsnes Peninsula was like stepping into another world—beautiful, dramatic, and absolutely freezing. We hit all the classic stops: Kirkjufell and its waterfall, the black church at Búðir, the cliffs at Arnarstapi, the jagged basalt at Londrangar, and the lava fields that stretch endlessly across the land. Each spot felt like something out of a fantasy novel, made even more surreal by the intense weather. The wind gusts were hitting 40 mph, and the temperature was a bone-chilling 6°F, which made even short walks feel like a major accomplishment. We bundled up and made the most of it, braving the cold long enough to take in the sweeping views and snap a few pictures before running back to the car to warm up. Hiking was basically off the table, but the drive alone was more than enough—snow-covered peaks, crashing waves, and eerie silence in between gusts of wind. Even with the cold stinging our faces, we couldn’t stop marveling at how raw and beautiful everything was. It was one of those days where you’re constantly uncomfortable but somehow still having the best time.
