Split was the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a more relaxed pace after weeks of constant travel. We loved that we weren’t in the thick of tourist season yet—no big crowds, just locals going about their day and a calm energy around the city. We walked everywhere, winding through the narrow stone streets of Diocletian’s Palace, which felt more like a small ancient city than a single historical site. It was amazing to realize that people still live and work within the palace walls, surrounded by centuries-old stonework. Every day involved a stop for gelato (sometimes more than once), and we quickly found our favorite spots tucked into quiet corners or by the waterfront promenade. One of our favorite days was spent walking and hiking through Forest Park Marjan, a huge green space right by the sea with peaceful trails, panoramic viewpoints, and little coves along the coastline. The views from the top were stunning—city on one side, endless blue on the other. The combination of history, ocean views, and chill coastal vibes made Split a great spot to just be outside, eat well, and enjoy spring unfolding at its own pace.
