Skiing in the Dolomites was a contrast for Jared. On the one hand, the snow conditions were some of the worst he’s ever skied on—icy in the morning, slushy in the afternoon, and overall not great. But on the other hand, the views were unreal, making up for every frustrating run. The Dolomites are one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world, with jagged peaks that look like something straight out of a postcard. Every time Jared took a lift up, he was met with breathtaking panoramic views of snow-covered valleys, towering rock formations, and charming alpine villages nestled in the distance. Even when the skiing wasn’t great, being surrounded by that kind of scenery made the whole experience worthwhile. The ski area is massive, with miles of interconnected trails and endless options for exploring. Jared spent most of his time trying to find the best conditions possible, moving from one area to the next, hoping to find a stretch of decent snow. Some runs were better, but overall, the weather wasn’t on his side. Still, carving down the slopes with the Dolomites in the background was special, no matter how the snow felt underfoot. One of the best parts of the Dolomites is the mountain huts, where Italian ski culture is all about long, leisurely breaks with incredible food. Jared fully embraced the experience, taking breaks to sip espresso and indulge in fresh pasta, cured meats, and local cheeses. Even though the snow wasn’t ideal, Jared is still glad he got to experience skiing in the Dolomites. The landscape makes it worth it, and the mix of Italian and Austrian influences gives the region such a unique feel. If he ever comes back, he’ll be hoping for better snow, but it was still an unforgettable trip even with bad conditions.
