I just went scuba diving in Cape Town, and it was an experience like no other! This wasn’t your typical tropical dive—instead, I ventured into the icy waters of Cape Town’s famous kelp forests. The cold definitely took some getting used to, but once we got below the surface, it was totally worth it. Diving through the towering kelp was surreal, like being in a magical underwater forest. The kelp sways in the current, and swimming between these giant strands felt like I was gliding through an underwater jungle. Visibility wasn’t super clear, but it added to the mystery of the dive. I even spotted some cool marine life, including starfish and small fish darting in and out of the kelp. The cold water was definitely a challenge—it’s much colder than any other diving I’ve done! But with the right gear, it was manageable, and I quickly adjusted to the chill. It was such a unique experience, so different from the warm-water dives I’m used to, and that made it even more memorable.
