Guatapé was like stepping into a real-life painting! We took a weekend trip from Medellín, and it was so worth the couple of hours on the road. The town is absolutely bursting with color—every building is more vibrant than the last, each one decorated with beautiful, intricate frescoes. Walking around felt almost surreal, like we were inside an art exhibit. And then there’s La Piedra del Peñol—wow! This massive rock dominates the landscape, and the climb to the top is no joke, but the view from up there is something I’ll never forget. After hauling ourselves up those 740 steps, we were rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of lakes, islands, and lush green hills. It was like looking out over paradise. We spent the day wandering the charming streets, eating delicious local food, and just soaking up the peaceful, picturesque atmosphere. Guatapé is such a perfect little escape from the hustle and bustle of Medellín—if you’re anywhere near, you really can’t miss it!
