Spending a month in Bansko, Bulgaria, was the perfect winter getaway. Nestled at the base of the Pirin Mountains, Bansko offered a mix of skiing, cozy vibes, and cultural charm. Jared took full advantage of the slopes, skiing almost every day. While the ski area isn’t massive, he found it to be a great mix of runs with incredible mountain views. Meanwhile, I enjoyed the town itself, which was full of charm and character. I loved wandering through Bansko’s cobblestone streets, exploring the farmer’s market, and stopping at cozy cafes. The warm drinks and pastries were perfect for the chilly weather, and the relaxed pace of the town made every day feel like a vacation. In the evenings, we both got into the après-ski spirit, trying out some of the lively bars and enjoying Bulgarian food at the local mehanas (taverns). Dishes like banitsa (a flaky pastry) and shopska salad quickly became favorites. Spending an extended time in Bansko allowed us to truly unwind and enjoy everything this charming ski town had to offer. Whether it was carving up the slopes or indulging in the local culture, we loved every minute of our month here so far.
