Spending a week in the Brienz region of Switzerland with my family was an experience we’ll always remember. Brienz itself is a charming little lakeside town, known for its traditional woodcarving and peaceful alpine setting, and it made a great base for exploring the surrounding areas. Most days we were out hiking, taking in some of the most beautiful scenery we’ve seen so far. One of the most memorable hikes was up to the Giessbach Falls, where we climbed the forested trail beside the cascading water and even walked behind the falls for a dramatic view. We also visited nearby towns like Lauterbrunnen, Interlaken, Iseltwald, and Grindelwald, each with their own distinct character. Lauterbrunnen’s valley, surrounded by high cliffs and dotted with waterfalls, looked like something out of a fantasy novel. Interlaken was lively and scenic, sandwiched between two lakes, while Iseltwald offered that quiet, postcard-perfect Swiss charm. Grindelwald gave us impressive views of the mountains and felt like a perfect alpine escape. Even though it was chilly at times, we were lucky to have mostly clear weather, which made our hikes and day trips especially enjoyable. At the end of each day, we’d gather together for hearty Swiss dinners—lots of rösti, cheese, and chocolate—and laugh over the day’s adventures. It was special to share the beauty of Switzerland with my family, and the week flew by in a blur of mountain trails, charming villages, and unforgettable views.
