Our boat ride on Lake Naivasha was an unforgettable experience, combining serene waters with incredible wildlife sightings. The lake, surrounded by lush vegetation and teeming with life, felt like a little slice of paradise. The highlight of the ride was definitely the hippos. We spotted several of them lounging in the water, their eyes and nostrils just peeking above the surface. Watching them was both thrilling and humbling—they’re massive creatures and surprisingly fast when they decide to move! Our guide made sure we kept a safe distance, but even from afar, it was amazing to see these animals in their natural habitat. As we continued, we passed Crescent Island, a picturesque spot rising out of the lake. Even from the boat, we could see animals grazing on the grassy plains. Zebras, wildebeests, and waterbucks roamed freely, creating a beautiful scene against the backdrop of acacia trees. The giraffes were especially mesmerizing as they strolled gracefully near the water’s edge, their long necks making them easy to spot even from a distance. The combination of calm waters, incredible wildlife, and the quiet beauty of Crescent Island made this boat ride one of the most relaxing and rewarding parts of our trip. If you’re in Kenya and want to experience wildlife in a peaceful setting, Lake Naivasha is definitely worth adding to your itinerary.
